Hiring a designer for your blog can be a daunting task. But you can get off to a good start if you do some research and preparation.
Before you even start looking for a designer, you need to work out EXACTLY what it is that you want. The more detailed your brief, the better your chance of getting a design that you love without any hiccups.
Do you just need a whole new design? A new header or logo? Take note of must-have features and collect examples of features that you would like. Knowing what you like and being able to show examples will make the process much easier.
Do you also want to move from Blogger to WordPress? It’s important to make sure the designer you pick has had experience moving from Blogger to WordPress, especially if you have a larger blog or you could be in for some headaches and extended downtime.
Contact a few designers with your brief for a quote. This will help you get a feel for the designer and their communication skills. Communication is a VERY important part of the design process, so you need to make sure there aren’t any problems before you start.
Once you have negotiated with your chosen designer, get everything writing. Or better still, a contract or a service level agreement.
