I had planned on doing an update last Sunday, and adding the over 300 wonderful new blogs to the list, but Google and it’s API had other ideas. I know everyone has been hanging out for the update, and to see all the new blogs.

At the moment while I work with my developer to get things running smoothly, I have all approved blogs displaying without ranking listed in alphabetical order. This will also give Alexa a chance to catch up on reranking all the Blogger domains that have now been changed to .blogspot.com.au (thanks again Google )

So, at the moment there are over 1080 awesome Aussie blogging chicks listed. Go Check them out!

Featured Bloggers will also be starting up again.  Since my call out last year I got so many people put their hand up, I think I have enough to keep us going for 12mths+ So thank you if you said you were interested, I will be in contact with those people over the next few months.

Thank you so much everyone for your support so far of the new list, the response has been amazing. I am so glad you are enjoying it.

You have kept me super busy adding all the new blogs you have submitted, there has been over 150 added so far!

We are still ironing out some bugs in the ranks and displays so please bare with me while we get everything running smoothly.

The ranks will probably be updated every few days this week, just to cope with the amount of additions. And then I will switch to weekly.

The wonderful Jaord and Liz have made an extra button for you to use, so there are now 3 to choose from. Grab one from the side bar and help spread the word.

I know some of you may have been a little disappointed with your ranks, and slipping down as new blogs are added. I feel your pain, one of my own blogs slipped out of the top 100 today. While the rank is there, it isn’t the whole purpose of the list, and there are many other ways to view the blogs, not just via the regular rankings.

A small update made today now means that blogs are also ranked within their categories. You can search blogs via categories using the top navigation. Or the search and drop down box just about the list. So while you may not rank too highly in the big list, you will be high up within your niche.

I am looking forward to adding 100′s more new wonderful blogs (especially now my form is working and I don’t have to do it manually ;) )

One of our biggest Blog Chicks, Social Media expert Laurel Papworth today featured on ch7 The Morning Show talking about blogs.
The segment just so happened to show a few shots of the Blog Chicks site, along with a few others. And Laurel makes mention of our Top bloggers list as a way to find some great reads.

People arrive at blogging for so many different reasons and blog in so many different ways that it makes the Internet an increasingly diverse and exciting place. However, more often than not, something fantastic you’ve written (especially if you’re not a ‘high profile’ blogger) may sit on your front page for a week, maybe two, before it gets archived away, where it is hard to find, and may then only be seen by people arriving on random search engine queries. Miscellaneous Voices is going to be my challenge, my experiment, to see just how well writing transfers from screen to page, as the process is often the opposite. I want to provide a platform for budding writers, or secret writers, or emerging writers, to showcase the talents this country has to offer. I also think it will be interesting to have a physical book to show a sceptic who might ask sarcastically, “What good writing has the Internet ever really produced?”

I will then be able to hand it over and say, “This – for starters.”

Miscellaneous Voices: Australian Blog Writing 2009 is being put together by Miscellaneous Press, a Melbourne based publishing business created by Karen Andrews.

But, on closer inspection of the stats, which uses US gender figures. Australian demographics reveal that Aussie chicks are a little behind. Flickr shows a 58% share to the boys and twitter 62%.

Blog Chicks is all about supporting, connecting and promoting Australian Women Bloggers. Already we do this with our Forum, Top 100 Australian Women Bloggers List and Blogger Directory.

But, I wanted another way to showcase the great writing that is out there and share it with more people. There is such a wide variety of topics out there, we don’t always get a chance to see them all.

So Blog Chicks will become a chocolate sample box of all the best our Aussie girls have to offer, on every topic all in one place. Gain exposure for your blog and reach new readers as well as find new blogs to read yourself that you may not normally come across.

Feel free to submit a post of yours that you think best shows what you and your blog is all about.

Now I know not everyone will be interested in each topic, so you can subscribe to each category separately. You can subscribe just to the blog chicks news, or you can go for the lot with the main feed. There will be a list up soon with a link for each category. Still some tweaking and work to be done, if you have any questions or suggestions please let me know

As most of you would have seen, I decided against a list update last month due to issues with Technorati. Unfortunately I don’t think they are ever going to get their shit together enough to be as effective as they were in the ranking of our list. It also caused all sorts of headache when putting the list together, so many great blogs aren’t registered, which means I cannot rank them.

I am looking to make some changed to how the list is ranked and ditching the technorati rank, but need some technical help to amend the script. If anyone knows anyone familiar with python scripts and such who would be willing to help out, please let me know.
