Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made one of their last appearances as senior members of the royal family on Thursday, March 5th. They attended the Endeavor Fund Awards, during which veteran Danny Holland accepted the Recognising Achievement Award. But before heading offstage, Holland took a moment to propose to his girlfriend—and the Duchess of Sussex’s heart almost melted into a puddle.

The Endeavor Fund was set up by Prince Harry back in 2012, and aims to aid the recovery of wounded armed service personnel and veterans by way of sports and “adventurous challenge[s],” as the Endeavor Fund’s webpage states. According to People.com, Holland was wounded by an IED blast in Afghanistan. Because of the blast, he suffers with mental health issues.

However, Holland is now working towards becoming a rehabilitation instructor, and was nominated for the Recognising Achievement Award by Mission Motorsport.

When he dropped to one knee to propose to his longtime girlfriend, both Harry and Meghan couldn’t quite contain their excitement.

We don’t know what’s cooler—being seated a few chairs down from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex or getting engaged while in their presence.

This was Harry and Meghan’s first official U.K. outing after announcing they’d be leaving their senior royal positions later this month.

On March 31st, their senior status will be no longer and the couple will begin preparations to move to North America.

Though they didn’t directly address their departure from the royal family at the awards ceremony, Harry told attendees, per BuzzFeed News, “Many of you have told me tonight that you have my back. Well, I’m also going to tell you that I will always have yours.”

Tonight in London, for their third consecutive year, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the annual Endeavour Fund Awards, which celebrates the achievements of those veterans injured in service who have taken part in remarkable sporting and adventure challenges over the last year. By choosing to take on what seems impossible, these men and women not only set goals for themselves but have also inspired millions of people around the world. These annual awards bring together The Duke and The Duchess alongside wounded, injured and sick Service personnel and veterans as well as their families, friends and supporters of the military community. The Duke, who founded the @EndeavourFund, spoke on the night: • “The Endeavour Fund came from seeing the gaping hole that can be left after taking off that uniform. The power that sport and adventurous challenge plays in recovery, yes; but most of all – the chance to be part of a team again while attempting to achieve unthinkable challenges – as if being shot or blown up wasn’t enough, you guys continue to impress, inspire and challenge what it means to have a life changing injury.” • Since its launch in 2012, the Endeavour Fund has supported 108 projects that have directly assisted over 6,000 of those injured in service. Congratulations to all those who participated in endeavours over the last year and inspired others to push the boundaries of what’s possible! #EndeavorFundAwards

Even though they will not be working as members of the royal family, Harry and Meghan will still be involved in the charities and foundations they helped to set up.

Congratulations to Danny Holland and his new fiancé—and congrats to Meghan and Harry. Proposals are always fun to witness.
